Site Updates

Welcome to Rabbit Hive

That’s right, Zee Hive is no more!

After a number of years with Zee Hive I decided it was time to make a change. With this change, I have a release schedule for some new content, and I hope to make Rabbit Hive bigger and better than before!

Most of the content is still the same, though I’m hoping to get a jump start on some new videos this month. Feel free to poke around while I continue my efforts to change every zeehive.net link I’ve ever posted to a rabbithive.com one.

More “Future” Updates

One of the strongest issues with any of the LEGO series I’ve done is that my buildings are not particularly advanced, and though the story can be well told, the creations are not exactly top notch.

I intend on changing that, as much as I can. As such, I’ve been establishing a budget for parts, and I’ve been using the LEGO Digital Designer to create new vehicles / structures.

Here’s an example of what some of them look like:

Zenith Jeep zenith truck

Additionally, I’m about 90% done working on my new studio area, and about 50% done working on the new surface itself. I’m expanding beyond the classic dresser top that I’ve used for the past 10 years. I now intend on having different surfaces for different terrains. More on that later!

New Equipment / Studio

I’ve been working on a new studio (really just a spare room in the house that I’m converting) for future projects. As a result, I bought a new camera, which I can connect to a laptop, as you can see in the picture below.

New Lego Setup

I’m rigging up an improved lighting system, and I’m looking into different stained woods or acrylic plastic for new backgrounds and floor textures. I’ll let you know how that goes.

Massive Updates to ZeeHive.net

I’ve cleaned up the site quite a bit. I have a lot more to clean up and add, but it’s at a point where I can at least open it up again, instead of sitting it in maintenance mode indefinitely.

Here’s what I did:

  • Added “Watch,” “Listen,” and “Read” sections as the main sections of content.  This helps organize everything into categories, and makes content easier to find.
  • Made new sections for podcasts, different videos, and pretty much all other stuff that I want to promote.
  • Cleaned up the link system.  Now, everything is tiered now, which makes a whole lot of sense when you start clicking around.  It’s easier to see when you just click to different content.
  • Added 5 more podcasts
  • Added a section for articles and writing

I’ve also temporarily removed some content while I figure out where to put it.  I’ll get to it eventually, I’ve just been working on this for two days straight and I need a break.  Don’t bother telling me about issues just yet, I know there’s still bugs to work out, just have fun browsing in the mean time.  You might even find content that has been around for a while, but you didn’t see because of my poor organization!
